Currently using an older HP laptop (after losing my new one in our house fire) and remember why I had bought a newer one in the first place!lol
This one is very slow, many times while on the internet, I get the message "this page is not responding" and similar experience when trying to open programs.
I have downloaded the free version of Malwarebytes...nothing found there. Have also ran the sfc scan and nothing showed up there either.
I did attach a usb flashdrive to enable ready boost and that has helped, but sometimes I find I still get the unresponsive internet & programs.
I know this is an old laptop, so maybe I just have to deal with it as is. I have included a snapshot of the specs from Speccy. Any suggestions as to if there's anything other than living with it this way, that I can try??

While a slow processor wouldn’t expect those internet errors .
Would be more suspicious of wifi speed.
Go to https://www.speedtest.net/ and check your connection speed.
If have an ethernet cable connect the laptop directly to your modem/router and try the speedtest again

Did the speed test (wireless only) can't find my cable to connect directly to the modem/router. I know next to nothing about speeds, so don't know if what I have is good or bad?

Hi Vicki, You answered your own question. Your old HP laptop will not run very much quicker with the hardware it was built with.
As ephemarial suggested using a cable to connect to your modem/router, this will give you a slight increase in WiFi connection but the rest of the hardware won't assist very much to your general operational laptop speed.

That's pretty much what I expected to hear. Just didn't know if my wifi connection had any bearing on why some of my programs on the laptop also were slow/or not responding. Thanks for the input though.

Just a quick follow up. Last night my laptop had a (pending restart) update. I completed it and things have improved tremendously! I don't remember exactly what the update was (net framework??) But at any rate, I am now surfin' the web much easier! I haven't checked to see if any of my other programs are still slow to open or not responding, but satisfied with this for now! Thanks all!

You can look in Program and features/Updates and see exactly what it was.
