For the last few days my pc takes three and half minutes to load. I did have the windows update KB954430 installed around that time.
All malware and virus scans come up clean. Could this update be the problem?
It takes 90 sec. to get to the welcome screen, then the screen goes black untill the programs begin to load at 195 seconds. the loading of programs seems to be in a normal time frame.

195 seconds does not equal three and a half minutes ;)

But how long did it take before (roughly)?

No not quite three and half, but this was the shortest time it did take to load completely and to be able to open my e mail or browser, three minutes and 15 seconds. Sometimes it is a little more or I did not check accurately enough.

I did not encounter this problem with this update. Did you try rolling back your system with System Restore, to restore it to state before this patch was installed?
Try rebooting 2x before you come to firm conclusion.
If still have long delay, then look elsewhere.

how do I find them, I have not been able to retain written guidelines or instructions. See my short bio on my web site. I thought the enclosed report is what was needed to identify the problem. Thanks again for replying.

Oh dear, I hadn't noticed that there were two links there... It would have helped if you'd spaced them out, it would also help if I payed any attention to what I was actually reading...

Error #2 is a driver error, have you tried removing the device or uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

Error #1 may be a one-off, but it may point to larger problems with your PC.

The fact that you have abnormally terminating services does point to larger problems, and you do have a faulty (either software or hardware) PnP device, so try removing that.

the compact flash driver is now working correctly according to the device manager. There are a lot of errors in the event manager, how do I fix that and is this the problem of the slow boot time?

Yes, the WMI errors could be exactly the reason behind your problem.

WMI = Windows Management Instrumentation, or your driver setup.

To fix this, you may need to reinstall your drivers, or at worst, repair install your computer.

I re installed the compact flash driver. I looked with google for the WMI drivers, but it looked like a foreign language to me. In the device manager are no errors listed, does that mean that all the drivers are OK? The one service I stopped was the Windows defender because I have the Zonealarm security suite. I can not restart the Windows search, a window comes up stating I have no permission to access this.

If the device manager states there are no unknown programs, that means that the drivers are installed OK, but they could still be corrupted in some way.

And I'm surprised at your inability to access Windows Search, have you checked for viruses and spyware, because I've never seen a PC that can't use Windows Search - and that's including restricted school PCs...

yes, I just did this morning a complete check with Ad-Aware, Malware Bytes, Zone alarm AV and Spybot S&D. I do not know why I can not restart the Window Search program

Have you been able to get the recovery working yet? And is the PC still slow at booting?
