    Hello,
I just read an article in regards to Slipstreaming Windows XP with SP2 (The article is at link )
and I was wondering if it is possible to do this with a set of Restore disks that I have with my HP computer.
I received this new computer last year as a gift and it did not come with any disks. It had Windows XP home edition preinstalled with a partition that had recovery files. I created the 8 recovery CD's and that is all I have. I would like to create a Windows XP disk so that I would not have to reinstall all of the files that come on these recover CD's because it has a whole lot of demo software and other things that I do not need. It is really a big hassle if I have to do a full restore.
I would appreciate any information anyone could provide.
    Thank you
    John

    wishstar70 - Welcome to the Board :)

It is very unlikely that you can slipstream. Your recovery disks are most likely to be a mirror of the original installation and would not include the full XP install disk.

    BTW - 8 CD's seems to be a heck of a lot to restore a m/c - ~ 5.6 GB !!

    Thank you all.
Yes it is 8 cd's and very much a pain.
I will look into the 1st cd and see if it is a windows xp disk. Otherwise I will look into the other backup programs.
