Resolved Slipstreaming XP PRO SP3 into a Compaq XP PRO Intallation disk

I have a beat up Compaq notebook with an Operating System Disk labeled as having XP Pro SP 1A.

Something started to go seriously wrong quite a while back when it attempted automatically to download SP3 and it did not install. The problems I have been experiencing have become exponentially and indescribably worse.

Can anyone tell me of a SIMPLE step-by-step method of copying the original Operating System Disk and "slip-streaming" SP3 into it?

Hopefully the resulting disk might make it possible to repair the system and get the notebook working properly

Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Create Bootable CD

and note

you get the error:

This Service Pack cannot be integrated into a destination that also has integrated Software Updates
Consult the Service Pack documentation for more details about supported integration scenarios.

This is caused by the fact that your Windows XP CD contains updates that will be automatically installed when you run setup. These type of CD's will usually be from larger OEM suppliers (like Dell, HP, or others).

You cannot use this type of CD to create a slipstreamed install.

For HP/Compaq PCs that have an AMD processor you need to download and install Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors before installing SP3.

I normally never endorse products but REIMAGE has solved all my problems with Windows XP Pro and my beat up old Compaq is now working almost like new!!
