Do these things need 800 MB CDs?

Also, how to you change C:\ to D:\ on the command line? I'm a bit of a luddite.

Thank you, I'm monkey see, monkey do.

Am I doing something wrong? The final file becomes too big for my 700 MB CDs.

I'm running the slipstream WXP SP2. It works good. The problem I was having slipstreaming was my buddy slipstreamed my SP1 and added some "convienence files" (now outdated as all) that made the SP2 slipstream just a bit too big.

Luckily Arie posted screenshots. I was able to see an extra folder!

    RayH,

You can slipstream it over an original gold cd and it includes all the SP1 updates. The 266 MB download has EVERYTHING in it. I used the RTM (release to manufacturing) download from over the weekend.

    Sucram,

Try tacktech.com. That's the guide I've been using. They've got a guide for Roxio there.

The problem was I was trying to slipstream over a "custom" SP1 slipstream. A developer buddy put 169 MB of files on the thing that didn't come with the original. It was like a Restore Disk. I solved the problem by going back to the original XP disk.

I would like to slipstream SP2 - the thought of downloading it more than once is not pleasant - but I only have my operating system discs that came with the computer - 4 of them, "Product Recovery CD-ROM" as they call them. I would be grateful for some guidance on slipstreaming using those. I have Nero 6 and plenty of HD space and CDs.
    Thanks
    Rick

Don't think you can slipstream SP2 into your recovery disks. My Toshiba laptop came with annoying recovery discs. They are just a bootable Norton Ghost image and arn't slipstreamable. Guess yours will be similar?

Best I can suggest is apply SP2 tweak/clean/defrag system and use a backup programme like Ghost, Acronis True Image or Drive Image to make your own recovery CD's or DVD(s).

If the first disk of the recovery set is a Windows XP disk, the answer is a maybe.

Yes, it may be possible. If you have a CD or folder on one of those CD's that contains what looks like a full XP installation, then you could simply use the contents of that folder for the process. When done slipstreaming, simply copy all the remining folders on that CD to your hard drive and then burn it all back to CD with the new slipstreamed XP installation included.

Does it look like you have XP's setup separated from the rest of the OEM stuff on one of those CD's?

I think Paul is right, a bootable Norton Ghost Image from what I can see on the discs. No obvious signs of an XP load. Ok, clean her up, defrag, load SP2, then backup to Norton Ghost - as usual.
Thank you all for the input.

Best to defrag after the SP2 install as well as maybe before, as the install will cause a bit of fragmentation.
