Slipstreamed XP/SP1 won't recognize Product ID..

I followed the instructions in the article on this site about slipstreaming XP and Service Pack 1a; it's a great article and I was successful in creating the slipstreamed CD. Boots up and performs initial install without a hitch; HOWEVER, when I key in my product ID, I keep getting an "Invalid ID" error message. This is a VALID ID! It works fine if I use the original Windows CD, and I even contacted Microsoft for assistance. They had me try two other valid IDs, and I got exactly the same results. Did anyone else encounter this problem? Has anyone got any ideas for a workaround? (This is a Windows XP Professional version).

 

With the slipstream CD in the drive, reboot, watch for "do you want to boot from cd?" press spacebar and it may work.

 

I've heard this happens if M$ has somehow blacklisted your initial install CD key and you attempt SP1 upgrade. Possibly something like this? ->

Great suggestions, but turns out my problem is already solved: my cd burner died the very next time I used it, so I replaced it and re-burned the slipstreamed XP/SP1, then re-installed using the new CD. This time, the install really DID go off without a hitch, and I'm a HAPPY CAMPER! Thanks for the help!
