My OS Hardrive crashed recently so I reinstalled the drive that originally came with the computer, I removed it back in 2008. The computer booted normally, no problems. (this is on the Dell Dimension 8400, the WD 160 crashed and was replaced)

I would like to update it and reinstall Windows XP Pro, and I used a Slipstreamed CD with SP3. The install proceeded normally until it rebooted and it said "no hard drive found ".

The slipstream CD was created using the original Dell Disk that came with the computer, the correct SATA driver is on that CD. I know because when the original drive was replaced back in 2008, I used Dell CD to install Windows on the new drive and there was no problems.

My question, when I make the slipsteamed CD, does the SATA driver not get installed on the slipstreamed CD? Even though its on the original Dell disk.

The SATA driver is available on the Dell website, but its for a floppy, which I don't have.

Any Ideas? How should I proceed?

Thank you, I now know where to look for the SATA drivers on the original Windows CD. I'll make me a new CD in the next couple of days.
