When I'm composing a message and click Address, the Address Book window appears in a size larger than my screen area. The buttons at the bottom (New, Edit, OK, etc.) are not visible at the same time as the information at the top of the window. The window must be dragged up in order to access the bottom buttons.

Is there a way to avoid this and have the window properly sized when it appears?

    Hi BirdieBob,

The Address Book window can be resized by catching the lower right hand corner of the window. When closing hold down the Shift Key, and the Windows should retain the size you selected. If that doesn't work, then use the Ctrl Key on closing the window.

The New Card, New List, etc., windows are not resizeable, nor is the Preferences Window. I have read that sometimes a different theme might work, specifically Little Mozilla, but I wouldn't advise changing Themes indeterminately.

I tried resizing the window and holding the shift key while closing the window. When I accesed the address window again, the smaller sizing in effect before closing was not applied. Tried the same process using the Control key with the same result.

I'm reluctant to play with other themes at this stage, at least while I'm still working my way through some of 7.0's details. I guess I'll just have to get used to resizing the address window each time I compose a message, right? Kind of a pain but it looks like that's where we are.

If you all come up with any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

    BirdieBob,

    Try this:

In the upper left hand corner, left click the tiny icon. Select "Minimize" and see if that will hold your setting.

The icon is on the Compose screen. When I click on Address to bring up the Address Book screen, the Compose window and it's nifty icon are unavailable.

If I left click on the icon and Minimize before going to Address, the screen is minimized and placed in the taskbar.

    Are you testing me?

    BirdieBob,
    LOL! :D

I swear, this is not a test.

    Here's the drill:

    With the Mail window open:

In the lower left hand corner of the mail window click on the Address Book icon

Then you will have access to the icon in the upper left hand corner of the Address Book Window.

    Resize your window as desired
    Left click on the icon
    Select: Minimize

OK. I followed your drill and (using the LOWER LEFT icon for Address Book), opened the address book, giving me access to the UPPER LEFT address book icon. I sized the window, left clicked the icon (UPPER LEFT icon, that is), clicked Minimize and the window was again minimized and placed in the taskbar.

I tried the same process again, but selected Size from the menu rather than Minimize (creative, huh?). I sized the window, then closed out of Address Book and Compose. Going back into Compose and Address Book (using the LOWER LEFT icon, of course), the Address Book window came up sized as it was before the prior closing. PROGRESS!!

Now, my original question dealt with accessing Address Book through the Address icon on the toolbar at the top of the Compose window. That display presents more addresses on the screen to select from without having to scroll as much. Do you wizards have something up your sleeve to allow THAT Address window to be resized on future access?

    Thanks and lemmeno........

Good going on your progress, BirdieBob!

As to the "other" Address Book window, nothing from the guru's on this window, other than trying other Themes.

I hope that some of these small by annoying problems will be fixed in future updates.

OK and thanks for the effort. I would suggest passing along update suggestions including

    1. Allowing any window to be sized (Address Book properties, for example, cannot be resized), and

    2. Ensuring that all windows are presented as sized no larger than the user's viewing area unless scroll bars are also presented at the side.

    Thanks again.
