I have two computers. Both running win98se. I have a Linksys 4 port router which does our high speed dsl. Is it possible to network both computers and still have independent access to the internet? Right now I have the internet coming in and plugged to the router's WAN plug (input) and each computer plugged to ports 1 and 2. Each computer has a 10baseT fast ethernet card installed and this setup works fine with the internet. But how can I network these easily? Do I have to purchase a NI card for each? or whatever else? Please give me some input. Thanks...

    bill1,

If you have the systems connected to the router and network cards in each, like it sounds you do, you should be able to access the Internet from either system independent of each other. This will hold true even after you network the two systems.

A little CAT5 or 6 cable to connect the systems to the router and you should be able to see each system. You will need to have different names for the computers and they should be in the same workgroup. Check your network settings for those. You will also have to enable File Sharing. What Protocols do you currently have on the systems?

Thanks for the info.... I had all the necessary hardware. All I had to do was do the network setup. I did that and the mini network works like a champ....:)
