Does anyone know a simple, possibly freeware, dialer program instead of the dialer.exe included with XP. Win 98 used to have a simple program, but the WinXP version is over complex to just use the modem to dial regular phone numbers. Not looking for VOIP program.

    Thanks,

Hyperterminal is pretty easy to use and is already on the PC.

Once you have a profile set up, you can just open the app and depending on your needs and preferences, set up a dial location for each place you will want to call or for one-off places, use the string

    ATDT phone-number-to-dial

and if it goes too fast (some work locations where you dial 9 or similar to get an outside line need a pause while that happens) you can just insert commas to cause a short pause.

    ATDT 9,,1,,800-777-8888 (and press ENTER)

the - marks are just for easy reading and you can use as many commas as needed from none to a bunch.
