Hi, my computer will sometimes freeze just before removing the desktop picture, during the Windows is shutting down page, or once windows has finished and computer just doesn't switch off. Or most of the time it shuts down fine.
It has a 450Mhz Pentium 3, 198 ram, 2 cd drive, 1 floopy, up to date BIOS (i think).

    RayBritton,

There is probably a better way, but I would try closing all programs before shutting down. Use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to close everything except Explorer and Systray. If your system shuts down correctly, I would suspect a program is causing the problem. If that is the case, a little trial and error would be the next step. If it was my system, this is what I would try first.
