shutdown 98 SE

    Any suggestions on fixing shutdown. Tried Microsoft patch. seems to work right after scandisk and defrag but at best is 50/50

    I had a similar problem recently. Traced it to a program that runs my network/internet sharing/firewall. Found it by closing the programs in my System Tray before shutdown, so try that.
    Could then try ctrl>alt>delete and close any programs you know are not necessary.
    An anti-spyware program may also do the trick (Spybot?).

    I did a search on this forum (Win 98) and found a lot of helpful info. Searched for "shutdown ", "end task ", "close program ", etc.

    Hope this doesn't cover old ground.
