Hey everyone! First of all let me say that I LOVE WindowsXP. The biggest improvement was Networking! Finally Windows Networking is a little easier! (I have a hard-wired network AND a wireless network in my home...) But I digress!

I have but one problem with XP (so far).. When I shut down, I actually get the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen! I haven't received that message since Win95! (Yes, Win98SE successfully shut the computer down completely, but for some reason XP doesn't do it.)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks!

    XP Shutdown

    Try this:
    Go to control panel
    Performance and maintenance
    Power options
    APM Tab
    check enable advanced power options

It worked for me with the same problem.

Hey - Thanks for all the advice everyone. I appreciate it! I've tried but simply cannot get it to work. It's not THAT big a deal, really - -I'll just have to hit the power switch.. More of an annoyance than anything.. Thanks again for the responses!!

Have you checked to see if APM is enabled in BIOS?
