Just discoverd this in my spy sweeper start up shield showwnd.exe and don't rember allowing it. A lot of sites tell people remove it. One says it's a virus. I just deselected it from the msconfig window and deleted it from the windows directory with no problems. I'm thinking if this was a trojan it didn't put up much of a fight. What I would like to know is if this was a legit .exe. I did notice after I removed it that a lot more posts in google appeared about this. Very strange. All my anti-virus scans come up clean Norton, Spysweeper, Ad Aware and Spybot search&destroy. Any input? Thanks in advance

Actually I went to both Best Buy and Microcenter and ALL the gateway computers had this in the windows directory. I contacted a manager and he was going to talk to some people that put these things together and see what they tell him. He also went to a local best buy and found the same thing. They also have some software they use to make sure all the software is installed correctly and for quality control. Problem is that they never got rid of it before shipping. (oobeflagnetscape0) in the add remove window also in the shared folder as new boundery. New boundery technology tech support gave me a contact at Gateway and confirmed that it should of been removed from thier newer computers and that I could safely remove it. They goofed. He also said that he would inform thier tech people as well. I'll keep you updated on what he finds out about showwnd.exe.
    Thanks

Good info! Do keep us updated, please. Mind sending me a copy of that file? (if it's not completely gone....recycle bin maybe?)

    ShowWnd

I found this file on my Gateway 507GR system today. I sent a copy of it to Noahdfear before deleting it.
