I'm with Comcast. They have offered MacAfee as a freeby suite to Comcast customers in the past. I have avoided MacAfee and Norton because of comments made(here on WindowsBBS, and other sites) about them being resource hogs. I am using Adaware, AVG9.0, and SpywareBlaster. All are free, and have served me well. Of course, I don't visit "nasty" sites and mostly hang around ebay, craigslist, wimp dot com. and the like. This evening, I got an email from Comcast telling me that they and MacAfee are parting ways in May and will offer the Norton suite instead.
Would it be wise to drop the 3 programs and go with Norton? Are the 3 combined equal to(OR WORSE) the resource "hogginess" of Norton?
I have had Adaware find "items" during their scans. AVG has never found anything on my computers. I only use it to stop Vista, XP and Win 7 from nagging me that no anti-virus exists on my computer. SpywareBlaster-I don't know if it is blasting or not.
    What do you think?

I've been using Norton Internet Security for years. Never had a problem with it. In the past I used Norton System Works, Firewall, and Anti Virus without any problems. Still the ultimate decision is yours.

I also use freeware like you & in the last 7 years did not have any major mishap.

Spywareblaster blocks certain domains/pages/cookies from loading. It is just meant to be run & updated once in a while.

AVG used to be my anti virus of choice but with the debacle of ver.7 & 8 I have switched over to Avast. Rock solid protection with inbuilt anti spyware.

Adaware used to be the program of choice years ago for removing ****. But since then it has been superseded by MBAM, SuperAntiSpyware etc. I use Windows Defender along with IOBit Security.

Norton was a known resource hog & s-l-o-w-e-d down the system appreciably. But now it seems they have paid some attention to it. Why don't you just install it & see how it goes for you ? You can always switch back to alternatives later :)
