Help! I made a shortcut to History from Windows Explorer. It worked fine until last night. Now I am getting an error message and I don't know how to fix it.
    Here's the message:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\History
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.

This has also happened with other programs I created shortcuts to from Windows Explorer. How do I fix this? I can't understand what happened when they worked before. Any help will be appreciated:confused:

Download This File. Unzip it to a folder. Open the folder and double-click the reg file it contains. Affirm the action to allow it to modify the Registry.

The file come from the Doug Knox help site and is safe to run.

That will restore the file association for Shortcuts.

Thank you. I saved the file to my computer incase I need it again. After asking this question, my computer kept freezing up on me and I had had enough so I completely reinstalled Windows. Had everything backed up onto a portable hard drive so I figured what the heck, it's about time to clean things up anyway. Once I get all my updates and programs installed I try the shortcuts again. Hopefully they will work as before. Thanks for your reply.;)
