I have Windows XP on my computer. How could I put a shortcut to Outlook Express on my desktop? Thank you.

Click on the Start button, point the cursor at All Programs and on the Programs menu, find Outlook Express. Right click it, point the cursor at Send To, left click Desktop. That will make a shortcut to Outlook Express on the Desktop

Or use Windows' Search>All Files and Folders and tell it to search for "msimn.exe," the executable that starts Outlook Express. When found, right click it, point at Send To, left click Desktop.
