Short cut icons now open only in 1/2 screen?

I have about 10 short cut icons down at the bottom next to the Start button that always opened in full screen. Now, all of a sudden most only open in 1/2 screen and I have to click on the little square at the top right to enlarge them.

What would cause these to change all of a sudden and what's the best way to fix them? The Properties does not show an option to open Full Screen but they worked fine before?

Once it is opened to full size try holding down the Ctrl key then clicking the x to close the window. They should open full size after.
