I've got Shockwave 8.1 installed by using the latest installer, and it shows up in the help/plugins list, but it doesn't function in Netscape 7. I remember that older versions had problems with Netscape 6, but that was fixed and had been worlking fine. Now, in Netscape 7, all the files appear to be in the plugin folder but they don't work. I've got no problem with IE6 running Shockwave stuff. If I go to the test page with Netscape 7 I just get a black box. Now, right after installing it and going to the test page (this version no longer takes you to a page that downloads remaining files), a message box had popped up informing me that I needed to restart Windows XP to complete installation. I did that and returned to the test page to get that black box, and no working Shockwave stuff within Netscape. I've tried the uninstaller and reinstalling it. I've tried deleting the plugins in the Netscape 7 plugin folder myself and reinstalling. Nothing gets it to work. Flash works fine, it's just Shockwave and only in Netscape 7. Has anyone else encountered this?

Welcome to the Netscape Forum, Eck!

    Hi Eck,

Do not feel alone with your incompatibility with Netscape 7, Shockwave 8.1, and Windows XP. I have been all over the Macromedia web site, and have seen quite a few users with the same complaint. I haven't seen anyone come up with a solution yet, but there is a lot of talk about Vodoo Video Cards.
