As a courtesy, SHAW will give customers webspace when we open a cable internet account but they will not offer tech support for it. My problem is that I have the webspace set up and can access it by typing ftp://ftp.shaw.ca/USERNAME. As the page opens, it prompts me for a username and password. No problem. Once the page opens in a very grayscale page with blue lettering, all my images are listed. For a more familiar page, I click on PAGE and from the dropdown menu I select OPEN FTP SITE IN WINDOWS EXPLORER. So far so good. Now, I can view my graphic files with the usual folder selection of views: THUMBNAILS, DETAILS, LIST, etc.

Now the problem. When I select THUMBNAILS, I get a large box of an icon but can't actually see the small graphic. When directing this problem to a friend, he logged on and WAS able to see the images in THUMBNAIL view.

Second problem, I can't seem to be able to create a desktop icon from this FTP site (or is it actually an FTP site?). I right click and CREATE SHORTCUT is not an option, nor is it from the FILE dropdown menu.

    Thanks for any help.

    What operating system?
The FTP site should be listed in My Network Places(xp) or Network (win7).

The Web space should also be available in Internet Explorer using: http://members.shaw.ca/<username>

If username and pasword are not saved you can connect using:
    ftp://username:password@shaw.ca

I am running IE7 on XP. Yes, http://members.shaw.ca/<username> does take me to what it labels as INDEX OF <username> but it is not editable. I can't add, delete the images on that page. At least I can do so on the FTP address approach. My only problem on the FTP site is seeing the images when thumbnail is selected.

the shaw website is offered a sales feature
Its of little real use simple as that
There are no shortage of free sites for hosting that actually will have some use
If its for simple postings - try a blog - blogger or wordpress blogs or perhaps a facebook page will give you what you need
