Does your current configuration support wireless or hard wired only?

If wireless, simply enable sharing in the printer's properties. If only wired, then you will need some sort of wireless access point first.

As I understand it, the printer is connected to your desktop. Access the properties of the printer and enable sharing. Then on your laptop, you can use the Add Printer wizard or connect to the desktop through Network Places and when you see the shared printer, right-click > connect (or install, depends on OS). The drivers should be installed on your laptop and you are set to go.
