    Hi there!

Huh I have a lot of problem with my laptop Thinkpad R52. Sorry for that.
Straight to my problem, I can't access my Shared Document in the My Computer. Its then followed up by appearing this flag:

    Cannot access Document
    Access is denied.

The folder also was not in name Shared Documents but only Documents. Its is very strange problem that I had no solution. I think about some malware, spyware, viral infections, but there are none as my recent scanning.

Hope for solution. Thanks and sorry for my worst English.

It sounds like your Security Settings on Documents folder need some work.

If you're running XP Pro, right click the Documents Folder located under your identity and click "Properties." Then click the Security tab. Click on your log in identity and set it to allow full access.

If you are running XP Home, it's a little different. You must reboot to Safe Mode. If you get a log in Window, type Administrator in the Name box and leave the password box blank (unless you have assigned a password - then type it in). Then right click the Documents folder under your identity as before and change the settings.

If you do not get a log in Window when entering Safe Mode, then you go to Start > Log Off > Log Off and when you get the Welcome screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Del two times. That should get you the log in window. Then proceed as above.

Your Documents folder for your identity will be on a path like this or similar:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents

    or perhaps in your case:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Documents

If I have misunderstood which folder you are targeting, then you can apply the same measures to whatever folder you have the trouble with.

    Good luck.

Thanks for your advice. Actually, I ave problem with my Shared Documents folder. It was renamed into Documents and could not accessed. When I right click on it and select Properties, there were no unusual there nor security tab. I was running XP Pro. Hope for another solution.

    BTW, thanks surferdude2!

I have no clue as to why a GUID-based folder would automaticly rename itself and become unavailable.

    Two things to do:

. first, reset the Security defaults of XP back to their native states:

    Reboot.

. second, assert ownership: first for the entire drive, and secondly for the renamed folder, and lastly for the file of concern:
