I always use the same password, so i can't figure out how it stopped working. How do i fix it. I can work on the file from two of the computers, but not the others.

    Hi wiry,
Have you tried posting this in the networking forum? Or if the problematic access share is from a comp running XP, the Xp forum. More descriptive/specific/details will needed, though. Details such as
*Versions of win98 and the XP's (fe or se, xp home or pro/fat32 or ntfs). *Which is playing nicely with the others and which is being fussy.
    *What's the error....etc.
The archives of past posts are also brimming over with "sharing/ networking snafu's and got-chas" and may have your answer. Have you searched through these?

I would take a shot at this but my score on Networking Troubles is far less then impressive and down right depressive. Other members may be waiting to see if you have found the answer from the archives while still others, in the win98 forum, are not familiar with XP at all.

I know this doesn't help answer your problem but hopefully it will help you to get an answer.... :)

Thanks for your feedback. I solved the problem because I didn't know how easy it was. You just erase the password and then when it asks you to put it in again, you leave it blank. At least it worked for me. Win 98 is pretty simple to defeat when it comes to the share password.

    Thanks for your help.

Oh thank goodness you have your fix! I am so relieved that I am not going to risk and no doubt make a fool of myself, trying to fumble around with this issue any further. I have said this often on the board and will probably say it till the day I die, "I hate Networking "! It drives me crazy.

---To sum up (while running for the "exit door ")---
While the specific details are left out of this post and since it is really Network Forum related, I am content just knowing that this is a done deal and you figured it out. Thank's for taking the time to update your post and your most welcome.... :)
