Here is the description on Google of sgtray.exe.

"System tray bar application that is used to remind the user to back up files. This free utility works with BackupMyPC, Simple Backup, and MS Backup software. "

Suddenly this sgtray is hanging on shut down. I have to wait until I can click on End Now. If anyone out there has experienced this, can you tell me how to put things right again?

    First thought - as always - uninstall > reboot > reinstall :)

    Cut and Paste SnipDiscript:
System Tray icon and background monitoring task for Veritas Storage Guard which in most cases gets installed as part of Backup Exec Desktop or Backup Exec Desktop Pro (as well as some of the other Veritas backup products). When running in the background, Storage Guard alerts you when you have not done a backup of your data for a while. Also, if you decide to do a backup you can do it straight from the System Tray icon.

If you don't use this program to do backups, remove the entire program from your Add/Remove Programs window. If you do use it than you could try disableing it from "systray" startup by using msconfig's startup tab or going to the registry and deleting the run key this will be under. I believe it will be in hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run****. Then only run it when you need it.

I think I was constantly bugged by this critter on my HP. It would monitor web connection, look to see if there was an update for its self and then bug me crazy either advising me to update or asking to update (I don't remember which). It was such a major nag I had to kill (with gusto and great satisfaction.) Sheepishly: I guess I let the nagging go on to long and it caught me on a bad day.
