I have set up a separate logon for my kids, but only certain programs are accessible from their logon. Is there not some way to control this?

Specifically, while we use IE6 to browse, we use Netscape 4.8 for email and newsgroups. I can set up a NS profile for them under my logon, but it doesn't appear under theirs. And if I set up a profile under their logon, I can follow the process all the way through to the end, but nothing ever starts NS.

I'm sure what I'm going to suggest, and a lot more is in the link provides by Arie, but I'll suggest a couple of things I do at work when faced with similar problems under W2K.

Sometimes it is faster to temporarily add their login to the Administrators group under computer management and then install the application from their full access account. After succesfull installation you can then remove their login from the Admin group to revoke their priviledges.

The other way that usually works is to drag or create a shortcut of the programme they are to use to the Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop folder.

Similarly, a programme that needs to start when windows is started can be dragged to the Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder. An example here may be something like a remote control app for a TV card etc.

A few programmes just won't work under limited rights because they need to write to restricted areas of the HD. As in Arie's quote.
