    Hi all, heres the problem.

    W2k server running terminal server.

Database software called "ITAS" ( SQL Database) has three services set to automatic which are:

    1. Itas Console
    2. Itas PP (posting)
    3. Itas Server

All 3 sevices use the same dedicated user account.

During the night, software company dials in (vpn) and does what they call "housekeeping" on the database which at present is only approx. a 7 minute process.

Every day services 1 and 2 are stopped and do not re-start due to "logon failure" (service 3 continues running happily).
To restart them I have to re-enter the password on the service logon tab and away they go!

    Any ideas gratefully recieved

    Thanks in advance

First thing I'd try is removing that account from the server (if a local account) or from the domain and creating it again. Same account name and same password will be fine.

    Hi Newt,

    Thanks for the reply.
When this started happening, the services were using the domain administrator as user.
I created a new user just for these services so in a way I have already tried your suggestion but I will try it anyway.

Any more ideas Newt or anyone please.

Tight Lines to you Newt. :)

    Cheers Colin.

I thought you might have a corrupt user account. They do go bad at times and this sort of thing is very typical when that happens.

If not, please post copies of any event log errors/warnings that relate. Just open an event, click the icon below the up/down arrows, and paste that text-only copy of the event in here.

Do I understand correctly that these services will not run under the system account (even with desktop interaction checked) and that when you picked the account for them to run under, the account has admin rights on the box and the account password was put in correctly when you modified the service?
