service pack 3?

    I have been trying to help a friend install new software on her computer. It gave an error message saying that SP3 must be installed first. I've been to the microsoft website and it has sp3 for win2000, but not winMe. Going through the update link on the winme pages it assumes I want to update my computer , which is on Xp. My friend has no internet connection so can't try this herself.
    I would be grateful for any suggestions. :)
