My computer is freezing up on me a couple of times a day at different place, -- I am running XP Home.

I looked at the Events Viewer and found one error which is service countrol manager.

anyone please help me to fix this.

    thank you

johnsonyj - Welcome to theBoard :)

I think it rather unlikely that the single error message re. Service Control Manager is related to your freeze problem.

This is more likely to be temperature related. Download Everest and checkout the CPU, etc temps under Computer > Sensor.

If the computer is a desktop power down and take of the case side and de-dust, paying particular attention to the CPU heatsink - do not remove this although it is OK to remove the fan and clean out between the heat sink fins. With the case open power up and check that all the fans are running.

If the computer is a laptop you can do little more than check that the cooling vents are not obstructed and dedust as well as you can - also check that the fan is working - should come on intermittently especially if you stress the CPU with a CPU intensive program.

Before you do this you may like to post the temps shown in Everest.
