Server Sugestions

    I have now decided to use my existing system as a server, I have added another 300gb sata hd.

    What I need a server for is, me and my brother makes our own software, and when we get stuck with coding, we transfer to each other using 4 shared because sometimes they are too big to send via email.

    I also want a server because we might sell on the software, so that the buyer can download it from my server.

    I have done a search and don't know which would be best to use.

    I would like something that is easy to setup, not too confusing.

    What would you suggest, do you have any good sites to walk me through and setting up.

    For what little you're wanting to do, almost any pc would do harware wise. As with any task, the more processing power/ram you have - the happier everyone will be.

    I'll let the experts chime in, but you'll need either a static IP and or Domain for your brother and others to easily access the machine to FTP the files...Keep in mind, most residential ISP aren't found of you having a server with lots of traffic. You might nieed a commercial account with your ISP.
