I'm running the shared fax service in Windows Server 2003. I have
salesmen using it to send a fax daily to numerous numbers on their
distribution list (FYI, this is not spamming, these are customers
wanting daily quotes). When one salesman sends his batch, the next
salesman can not successfully send his batch until all of the faxes
from the previous salesman's batch have had at least one transmission
    attempt.
I don't mean that the second batch gets queued behind the first (which
would be the goal), but rather the second batch can't even be
successfully enqueued from the client until the first batch has been
    worked through.
I'm looking for a solution for this issue.

There is no feedback to the submitting user. The event viewer on the
    fax server shows:

The fax was not submitted successfully.

    The following error occurred: 4.
This error code indicates the cause of the error.

    Sender Machine Name: \\SAL.
    Sender User Name: sal.
    Sender Name: Sal T^^^^^^.
    Number of Recipients: 38.

With what sounds like a 'mission critical' need, you might do better to go with some 3rd party help.

http://www.brooktrout.com/products/shared_fax/ looks good and Brooktrout has certainly been in the business for a number of years.

    Shared fax service loses faxes

I'm wondering if you ever found out any more about this problem as I am having a similar issue. Intermittently I get complaints that a fax hasn't been sent and there are no signs of it on any of the servers. It is as if the user has pressed cancel but is happening too often for this to be the case (or at least I really hope it is!) This is a Windows Server 2003 running the shared fax service in a windows 2000 active directory domain with the users using a terminal server running windows server 2003 with Linux/Thinstation clients.

Any information would be much appreciated.
