    Hello All,

I wonder if you can help me please ?

I've bought a new HP Proliant ML115-G5 and installed Windows 2003 onto it. I used the CD that come with the server fro the drivers. All working just fine. Its used as a web-server, but had MS-SQL server running as a back end of a forum.

Now the problem is since I had the server, it reboots every 24 hours ?

I've checked the logs and nothing to really report. I have no jobs running at that time. I have got a copy of the debuglog off, but its a bit above me. Could somebody please take a look at the below ? Does it look like a hardware issue, or software ? or any other advice would be warmly received :)

Thanks for your help, the server is being used for a charity, so I would like to get it fixed for them.

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: f7b5159d, The address that the exception occurred at

You will need to wait for one of the Pro's to visit and properly analyze your log so be patient. It could be a matter of minutes, hours or days as very few individuals have the expertise required to pinpoint the exact problem. We've got a few but they don't camp on the board so its a matter of accomodating their schedules and hoping they stop in sooner rather than later.

I am not among that elite group but can see that whatever the fault may be, it has adversly affected something in your Symantec software as SYMEVENT!SYMEvent_GetVMDataPtr+0x87c3 is the last entry processed before the warning.

Be patient, someone will get to your problem.

    ;)

Thanks again for the input. I've dug out the original disks that the virus software come on, and also the license. I'll remove the product from the server and if we get no reboots I'll contact the Norton people.

Not sure if its allowed on this forum, but can anybody recommend a Virus Checker for 2003 Server that does not rely on annual subscriptions (being a charity, not a lot of cash to spend unfortunately...)

They don't mind the original purchase, its the recurring cost that gets to them

    Thanks again

Maybe someone knows, but usually AV software vendors charge for their server products.

It took me all of 30 seconds on the Comodo website to see that it is only available for Windows XP & Vista.
