Thanx to all expert replies on this URL/win system hi-jacking malware which seems absolutely ubiquitous. I too have been defeated in removing this with all available tools. I'd rather start again with a clean hd and re-install. Is the recovery console (Win 2k-NTFS) a reliable way of starting completely from scratch? My data files are safely backed-up, but my system is totally compromised. Will winnt32.exe remove the present partition, wipe and re-partition and install my operating sys from the clean Windows 2000Pro CD-rom? These types of malware must infect the boot/system partition, or CMOS as I've used Sea-tools to format and partition my 20GB hard-disk and they survive and even multiply after re-installation of OS and connection to the SP4 Win Update site. the main symptom is the constant "SecurityAlert" "System Registry Corrupted "
pop-ups whilst updating, the inability to connect the dial-up modem jack plug to the telephone line without giving complete control of the line to the windows system and the constant re-direction of the start-page url to "about blank" and many other disguises including some with-in an MS.com and MSN.home addresses. I have reset CMOS by jumper and will try Recovery Console tonight - presently working from a public access machine in my local library!

I split your post off of the other thread, and started this one for you. It gets confusing when others are getting their problems fixed. You can get better help for W2k in this forum.
You could use a Bootdisk, and copy Delpart onto it. When you are at the prompt, type in 'delpart" and use it to delete your partition(s).
