Just had a fresh reinstall of my XP PRO with Norton Internet Security 2004 and a few anti-spy. I have been always doing that and it worked perfectly. This time and after a few days this happens : While access to the internet is ok, after some time (it varies) my msn goes disconnected and later on I can't access any webpage. It's like suddenly every port closes although everything seems ok (connection icon, ip address etc). It's annoying having to reboot and have this problem again. I'm behind a Uni's NAT and I have noticed on Norton that every time this problem occurs, one process called ccProxy.exe which is the one acctually giving us access (they have blocked almost all ports) is not working (not on the list of real-time processes). PLEASE if someone has any idea what might be wrong, I doubt its any virus/worm/spy, I'm clean of that. Many thanks.

Welcom to the BBS Tas. :)

Have you disabled NIS 2004 for the purpose of fault finding. Check that the proxy you are using is correct, as well as other security settings.

Something else to try is when it next happens to you, click on start then on run, type in eventvwr.msc and OK. Then check your event logs for errors or warnings that look as if they might be related.

If you find something but aren't sure exactly what it means, open the event, click on the icon below the up/down arrows to send a text copy to your clipboard, and paste the contents in a reply here. We can take a look and try to figure out exactly what is happening.
