I know this has been discussed many times, but I still need clarification. I have Mozilla 1.7.2 and would like to install the new Netscape. I know they need to have separate profiles. Do I just go into Profile Manager in Mozilla to set up a new profile, follow the instructions and then download Netscape? Or is there something else I need to do. I've been reading previous threads, but can't seem to understand the complete process.

    Thanks for all your help!

Jeane, you do this toward the end of the installation of NS7.2. I selected a separate directory for both program, and profile. If you have only one profile, then go to Start|Netscape7.2|Profile Manager.
A personal toolbar was automatically taken in. I thought, first, that it was from Moz1.7.2. I was mistaken. It was from the only profile which is in the default location.

    Personal toolbar?

Thanks for getting back to me. So, I do nothing with Mozilla, download NS, and it will ask me where to install the directory and profile? Then after installing NS I go to NS/Profile Manager to set up the new profile? I am confused about the personal toolbar, sorry -- could you please elaborate.

    Thanks again,

    Jeane

That's correct. Unless you specify otherwise, Netscape will be installed here:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape

    Whereas Mozilla is installed here:
    C:\Program Files\mozilla.org

So you can see that there will be no conflict. See this Screen Shot for the install window which shows the location of the "Destination Directory ".

The installer will take you to the Profile Manager, and then you can create a new Profile. Since Netscape and Mozilla both install their Profiles in the ~\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles directory, you can create your Netscape 7.2 Profile in advance of the install.

When the installer takes you to the Profile Manager you can then select the newly created Profile. Once you have tweaked to your heart's content in the Preferences, right click on the Netscape Desktop shortcut.
    Select: "Properties "
    Click on the "Shortcut" tab
In the "Target" field at the end of the target path add one space
    Then add -p yourprofilename
You will bypass the Profile Manager when Netscape 7.2 is started, and it will open in your newly created Profile.

The reference was to a new Netscape Toolbar. See this Screen Shot
You don't have to use it, and it can be turned off in View | Show/Hide | Netscape Toolbar.

Let us know if you have more questions.

    Jeane,
I may have confused you by mentioning the personal toolbar. That's the one right below the Navigation(URL) bar, which has a number of pregiven buttons. I remove all the buttons so that I can fit as many folders as possible.
I was surprised that it would happen, but not so surprised when I saw the bookmarks.html there, of which the Personal Toolbar is part of. It is up to you to set it up anyway you wish.
