Sent messages not being saved in OE 6

    In my Options folder the box marked "Save sent messages to sent folder" is checked, but sent messages are not saved. Why is this? Any suggestions? Thanks

    It's possible that your Sent Items folder - sent items.dbx is either overfull or corrupt.

    For OE 6 ....

    Make a new folder in OE, save Saved Sent Items and drag the contents of the Sent Items folder into this.

    Then search for sent items.dbx (In OE > Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store Folder button will tell you where your Store folder is).

    With OE closed delete sent items.dbx - OE will recreate it when next opened.

    Open OE and see if the problem is solved. If it is drag the sent items you saved in the Saved Sent Items back to the Sent Items folder, but be awa that OE plays up if any of these folders get too large.

    If this fails to resolve the problem run System File Checker (XP) ....

    Start > Run > type in sfc /scannow - note the space and have your XP CD handy. SFC will run and exit without any concluding dialogue. To see which files, if any, have been replaced look in Event Viewer.

    Which Sent Items folder's content are you dragging into the new folder? Sent Items.dbx in the Store Folder? Or in the left hand panel in OE? It is not possible (without a third party program like DBXtract) to see (or therefore drag) the contents of a .dbx file so I am a little confused.
    I am glad kingb123 could make your suggestion work.

    - the one in the LH pane in OE. My concern was that he should not lose his current Sent Items. Worked OK for another poster some time ago and apparently for kingb123 - unless it was SFC which did the trick, he didn't say.

    I did not do SFC. I actually saw the thread where the other user had problems with his inbox so I understood the instructions perfectly. Thanks again
