I am using netscape 7.01. Some time ago I noticed that copies of the emails I send were not being copied to my sent folder. When I set it up in preferences / copies and folders the check box for 'place a copy in' is checked and when I select my account in the 'click here to select an account' combo box my acount is there. Clicking OK closes the dialog box, however when I open it up again everthing is checked as before but my account is not in the combo box and again it shows 'click here to select an account'.

    Welcome to the Forum, nkiefer!

    Hi nkiefer,

    Several things you can try:

With Netscape closed, in Windows Explorer:
Delete the Sent.msf file. Do not delete the Sent file with no msf extension.

If you have enabled "Empty Trash on Exit" disable that function and see if the Sent mail is then saved to your Sent folder.
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings

Check the Properties | File Attributes of your Sent folder, and be certain that it is not marked "Read Only ".

Let us know if this helps,

    Ramona :D

    Where is the sent folder?

I checked your items 1 and 2. Deleted the sent.msf file and unchecked "Empty Trash on Exit ".

    That did not help.

    Hi nkeifer,

Depending on your OS, this is the location of the Mail folder:

    Windows 2000/Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\accountname

NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab

    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

    Windows NT
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\accountname

    Windows ME
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\accountname

    Windows 98
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\accountname

    Windows 95
    C:\Windows\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\accountname

All permissions on folders look fine. I am running win2K adv server and am admin.

My guess is I need to do a clean install?

I have found instructions that you have posted on how to do that. Anything else I should consider given the O/S and the fact that I dual boot this machine win win2k professional?

Before a clean install it is usually recommended to try making a new Netscape profile first (with default settings), and see if that works. If the same problem still exists, then a clean install might be an option.
