    Hi,
I have my friend's XP (HP Laptop) computer home trying to recover his Sent Items from Outlook Express.

He said that when he compacted Outlook Express his Sent Items disappeared. Now he only has a few that he sent from the last couple of days.

I searched the internet for help but I can't quite understand what they are trying to tell us what to do. I have been trying to do what they suggest but can't understand it. Here is the site:
    http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/935311-sent-items-missing-outlook-express.html

It states fairly well what the problem is.

They said to first rename the sent items.bak to .dbx. Then rename it to Restored Sent Items.dbx.

Open Outlook Express and made a new folder called Restored Sent Items.
Open this new folder to create a .dbx file in the Message Store.

I closed Outlook and open the message store which is in:
    C:/Document and Settings/User Name/Local Settings/Application data/Identities/{Long NUmbers....}/Microsoft/Outlook Express

Now the following is what I can't understand:
Copy (do not move the file) and Paste the Restored Sent Items.dbx file into the Message Store. You should receive the message to overwrite it.

When I right click I don't get a copy and paste command.

Please try to explain what I am really supposed to do.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Jean

Sorry I don't have my friend's laptop here anymore but I'll save your letter and if and when I get it back for some reason I'll try to get his sent items back if they even still exist on his computer.

    Thanks for trying.
