    Hi All,

After a change of my ISP I need to send my new e-mail address to the list of friends now in the Address Book. I'm using Thunderbird 1.5.0.4. Since this represents about 50 names, I'm looking for a way to perform this in a single list of Of Bcc. Is this possible? How? Thank you.

    derfsch,

If you have already created a "List ", which contains the addresses of the 50 friends:

    Click on: Write
    Click on: Contacts

Select the List Name in the "Add to Bcc:" Address option, and in the "Add toTo:" Address option, use your Address.

Should look like this: Screen Shot

If you haven't created a List, then open the Address Book
Click on: File | New | Mailing List

Once created, then highlight, and drag the Addresses of the 50 friends to this List.

Let us know if you have further questions!

    Ramona ...

Your screenshot shows an "Add to Bcc:" button at the bottom of the Contacts pane. For those who may be wondering why it doesn't appear in their Composition windows, this button isn't present in TB, as installed. It can be added with the "Thunderbird Add Bcc Button" extension, which makes mass mailings a lot easier.

Originally I went to your home page .../~cherokee67/... for information under the heading Using the Address Book - Lists. The discussion there seemed to apply to NS 7.1 and was different from my TB so I checked into your forum. Your reply was most helpful and following your directions I sent my new address to the new-list persons that was created. To do the "Bcc" however, meant that I had to individually change each "To" to Bcc. Not a big deal. I tried to add Jim's suggestion of the additional button without any success. Things got hung up on the .xpi extension.

Thank you both for your helpful interest.

    derfsch,

Jim had a good eye, as I have had that Bcc extension so long that I forgot all about it.

What happened when you tried to install the extension? Is this is how you do it:

    Download the ATBCC.xpi file first.
    Next:
In Thunderbird click on: Tools | Extensions
Once the Extensions window is open, then open Windows Explorer
Browse to the folder where you downloaded the ATBCC.xpi file
Left click the ATBCC.xpi file and drag it to the Extensions window
    Follow the prompts and install
    Close Thunderbird

When you open Thunderbird you should see the third button: "Add to Bcc" at the bottom of the Contacts list.

    derfsch ...

Extensions can be tricky, so I'd suggest installing the MR Tech Local Install extension, which makes handling all other extensions, on both TB and FF, a piece of cake.

The Local Install interface can be a bit intimidating, so see this post for the only settings I think are important for the average user.

In addition, when Local Install's installation window is opened to install one or more extensions, it may be necessary, with older extensions that haven't been updated, to check the "Override 'maxVersion' compatibility checking" window in the lower left corner.

    HTH.

    Ramona ... Jim ...

My Thunderbird now has the "Add to Bcc" button at the bottom of the Contacts list due to your explanations. Thank you again for your help.
