Using Outlook 2003 I can receive emails from my home Adelphia account at the office. But cannot send them.

    POP server = mail.adelphia.net

    SMTP server = ?

The office has a T1 connection and is running Exchange Server 2003.

Are you wondering what the smtp server should be? If so, try the same as the pop server, mail.adelphia.net. A lot of times they're the same. Otherwise you can check the properties of the account at home. That should tell you what it is. To find it in OE, click tools>accounts>mail. Double click on your email account and click on the servers tab.

OOPs! Just realized you're talking about Outlook here. Do you use OE at home? If so that'll get you the server names. If you're using Outlook at home I'm not sure how that's set up but I would guess it's something similar. You'll have to have a look around in the menus. Otherwise, I'm sure somebody else here can help.

I think you can just use the SMTP server already set up in Outlook at your office to send any mail. The receipient will still think it's from your home email account.

Ditto. You have to use your office/companies smtp account info.

Yes, you MUST use the SMTP server designated by the isp that provides access for the work connection. This is because most ISP SMTP servers require authorization in the form of ip address identification.

When connected at home, your connection will have an ip address assigned by the isp, and you will be allowed to send mail via the isp's SMTP server, which is an email Relay. But it is not an Open Relay, meaning that not just anyone can use it. Use is allowed only for computers having an ip address in the isp's network block (range of addreses they own). Email messages contain the source ip address in the email headers and the isp identifies the ip # and allows or disallows based on that.

Just another thought. You may want to check with your ISP because they may allow you to send e-mail through their SMTP server when you are away from home, but you will probably have to make additional settings in Outlook. My ISP allows me to do this, but I have to set the authentication settings as well as change the ports that are used for Pop3 and SMTP.
