I have IE6sp1 and Mozilla installed. IE and OE are my default handlers.

In Mozilla, I click on file/send link and mozilla mail opens and waits for me to fill in the address. Good!!

In IE, I click on file/send/link by email and Mozilla mail mail opens and waits for me to enter address. Bad!!!

I just switched to my IE5.5sp1 and Netscape 7 partition and it does exactly the same thing. Send link opens NS mail instead of OE.

I wonder if this wasn't caused by one of those infamous updates from IE?

    Hi Bill,

I did find this information on IE 6:

Fix bug in IE 6.0 sendmail.dll file (Functionality of Menu/Send/Link by Email)

In IE6 when trying to Send/File/Link by Email from the menu bar, IE6 prevents the loaded Web Address from being copied into the email message area of either OE6 or Outlook XP. This does not occur in IE 5.5. This is specifically regarding the IE feature, which allows the convenient quick paste of the Web Address into an email message area without having to manually copy and paste.
(This does not address OE or Outlook security blocking of misc. attachments.)

To fix this, a copy of IE 5.5 sendmail.dll file is required, located in the Windows System folder. Delete or rename and/or backup the IE 6.0 sendmail.dll file, which is located in the Windows System32 folder (Windows XP). Paste the IE 5.5 sendmail.dll into the Windows System32 folder. This will allow you to use the Menu/Send/Link by Email function on the IE 6.0 menu bar. I have not noticed any adverse effects from doing this, but if one encounters problems, it is easy to reverse.

This bug has been reported to Microsoft and they are studying it.)

However, this doeesn't address the fact that it also occurs with IE 5.5! I'm sure that you have checked all your IE Internet Options settings, to ensure that IE is configured as the default browser?

You might also check this Registry Key and see what it tells you. As I don't have OE on my system, and NS 7 is my default, I obviously have only NS info.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\?????" "

    Thanks Ramona,

I just this minute dl'ed IE5.5 sp2 and installed and does the same thing.

I think I will uninstall NS temporarily to see if that works. The Netscape side does everything OK.:D

It's too close to supper time to fool with it right now so I'll be back tomorrow and do some more....

From what people say, it seems like 5.5 version has more bugs, then 6.0, or even 5.01.
    Just my two cents.
