Using IE8,64 bit and Windows live mail both set as default apps. Under file I choose "Send ". The "send link by email" and "send page by email" are grayed out. IE8 is set to my default browser and Windows live mail is set as default for my mail client. Any ideas why the above are grayed out (not available? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

Not an answer to your problem, but you should be running IE9 and not 8. More secure.

    Try this.

Solution is: go to default program in control panel. choose "set program access and computer defaults ". Choose custom. Next unselect "use current web browser" and select ie8. Do same for email. Click apply and it's fixed.

Was my answer the fix? Found that on another Board. Good for you going to IE9. You can make it look just like 8...

Well some people get used to the way something looks and and don't like change. That is the only reason why. You need to change your signature also. Still shows IE8.

Glad all is working well for you. Have fun and surf safe... :)
