I decided to experiment with my laptop display, and use up some of the horizontal space, and open up some vertical space--by moving the taskbar to the left side of the monitor display. I'm getting used to it, but I noticed that the calendar just gives me the time now, instead of the time PLUS the day and month.

Is there a setting to revert back to the original, full calendar display, while still having the taskbar on the left?

Probably not enough room to display it. Have you tried to make it wider?

That did it. The taskbar was unlocked, and I just moved my cursor until I saw that right-left arrow, and moved it to the right. Now I have the time on one level, the day on the other, and the date on a third.

Problem is, the taskbar is unnaturally wide. Icons have a LOT of empty space to their right and left. Not sure if I want to leave it like this.

I'll tinker around and see if I can't remove the day "Mon" from the date, and instead of having that third line read "Mon 26 May 2014," just have it read "26 May 2014." That would probably allow the info to be displayed, with a narrower taskbar.

OK now its good. I right-clicked on the calendar in the systray, and selected Adjust date/time. I went through the options to where I found the menu to adjust the calendar day/time settings. On the Short Date, I eliminated the three DDD, that pushed "Monday" out of the view. So now, instead of "Monday 26 May 2014," I only have on that lower third line, "26 May 2014." There is still a "Monday" on the second level.

Strange. When the taskbar was on the bottom of the display, there was only one instance of the day. I didn't know that Windows would try to give me two instances when I pushed it to the left.

But after making my change, I was able to narrow the taskbar just to the point where this calendar info stayed visible. Of course I locked the taskbar after that.

Thanks for telling me to widen the taskbar. I didn't know it was movable.
