They will only be able to see shares on your PC. Non-hidden shares so if you use a $ at the end, it will be available but not visible.

It would require details on how you are set up on the network and how you have stuff "hidden" to be able to give a good answer. But in general, if you are running Win98 and they are very good with a computer, they can probably get to anything you have located in a shared resource unless you have it encrypted and well password protected.

If the material is in a folder that isn't shared (and nothing at a higher level is shared) then no, they won't be able to see it.

Higher level is something like c:\mystuff\otherstuff and if you have mystuff shared, you won't need to have otherstuff shared. But if otherstuff is shared and mystuff isn't, the network user will only see otherstuff.

I was just hoping that if I made the attribute of a file in a shared folder "hidden" then they counldn't access it at all. But I have networked with someone and I counld see all the hidden files.

    Thank you, for replying.

All you need to see files hidden that way is to set windows explorer to "show hidden files ". Doesn't matter if they are local or on a network share - you will see them fine.
