Resolved Security updates won't install

    I have automatic security updates set to install every day at 3:00 A. M.
    They have not installed since Wed. Sept. 11. the first one to fail was windows malicious soft removal tool KB890830. Now I can't get anything to install. get code 80072EFD. Also please tell me how to set a previous last known good check point. OS is xp with servic pack3.

    I haved looked under START programs and "Add & Remove" program. and a search for
    Zone Alarm. I don't believe it is installed. have Win. fire wall turned on AVG anti virus running all the time. and I run Malware bytes every 2 or 3 weeks
