    Hi Ramona

Perhaps you can assist me with a problem concerning NS 7.x and MP3.com.

Neither NS 4.79 or IE 5.5 has any problem being recognised by MP3.com for downloading or listening to music but when I try to use NS 7.x, it's `no go'.

I've tried various cookies settings - at the moment have Enable All Cookies selected [which I do NOT prefer] and have altered none of the defualt security settings. I think the problem must be in the latter area. MP3.com's Help sector does not include NS 7.x versions.

I've asked MP3.com for assistance but so far, without success.

Please, do you have any suggestions?

Incidentally, my default player is Music Match [registered and current]. NS 7.02, SillyDog version, now is my default browser.

    Thanks

    Ron

    Hi Ron

If this is a site rejection / connection ... Check this.... GoTo.......
Edit| Preferences| Advance--Expand| select ..... Scripts and Plugins. ALL entries should have a tick, EXCEPT no tick for "Mail and Newsgroup ". If any ticks added/removed, Close / reload Netscape... try surf'in.
If this is a "Music Play" problem... now were in a java problem (is it active?) and required plugins and a proper sequence of install. Netscape calls the last loaded. I do not pull music via web. I have home sound system for that.

    Hi Ron,

I am downloading an MP3 from MP3.com as we speak.

I use MusicMatch, Registered Ver. 7.50.1070
I have nothing enabled in Scripts & Plugins | Allow web pages to:
Cookie setting is: Enable cookies for the originating web site only
    Java is enabled

I went to one of my favorite Artists's site, David Ries who is one of our esteemed members, BTW. I registered, was kicked back to my Artist site, then began the download. You should be able to do the same thing.

    Hi Ramona,

I removed all the tick marks from `Allow Web Pages to' registered at your highlighted page, DL'd and listened to one piano piece.

Previously I had all the Allow Web Pages enabled [default I think]. This said, I still have one problem and perhaps it's with Music Match. When I choose to listen to a piece rather than to DL it, Music Match opens but then is `dead'. My version is very close to yours: 7.50.0089b. I haven't checked for an update recently [I have this aversion to auto updates].

By the way, I had/have Java enabled but what's XSLT? I have it enabled but should it remain so?

    Thanks Ramona.

    To Dennis

Thanks for your reply. At first I thought of reinstalling Music Match but it's not a connect problem it seems as MM opens when requested ex NS, there's just no sound and the music title does not appear in the Play List. MM is my player of choice for all but Midis.

    Ron,

When you select lo-fi Play or hi-fi Play MMJB comes up. Give it a few seconds, then open My Library. At the top left hand corner there is a tiny gold/yellow folder. Click on that folder, and you can view, and listen to your streams there.

Let me know if you continue to have problems. Or you might try the MMJB Users Guide.

I don't do the auto updates either. I download the new Versions and do a clean install of the program, backing up the playlists and My Library first, just for good measure.

XSLT = Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations
A software language code used for web page authoring. I leave mine enabled.

    Hi Ramona,

Once again I'm indebted and will give that a try. Will let you know if I still have problems.

I wish MS would not force `on line' installs. I do, however, first disable/close as much as possible especially Norton A/V.

    Enjoy your evening and Sunday.
