I have Office 2000 installed on my computer (Win XP Home, SP 2). For some reason I just never ran Outlook (version 9.0.2720) and instead used Outlook Express and now Thunderbird. I'm curious about something. If I were to install my version of Outlook, would it "update itself "? Would it pose any general security problems when I receive email? I've kept up with all my critical updates from MS so I'm not certainl whether or not this "older" version of Outlook was covered in such. Thank you.

Unless you have Outlook installed MS updates will not offer or download any patches for it. However, should you install Outlook you should go immediately to either Microsoft Update (not Windows Update) or Office update and install the patches offered.
