    I keep getting a notice :

"The server you are connected tois using a security certificate that could not be verified.
The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value. "

    Can I fix this?

bananaball Hi and welcome to Windows BBS !

I persnaly dont know much about cert's.Others here certainly do..
    couple questions though.
do you get that message when surfing w/IE
    if IE what version ?
or using outlook or outlook express
what operating system do you use ?
have you applied all update's,,? (from windows update)

I see this same question asked in the ms newsgroups and MVP's first suggestion was to cleanup any spyware/mailware with a program like Adaware or SpyBot. both are free

    Thanks for responding.

I get the message when I hit send/recv on OE to take mail from my isp/mailserver (ATT.NET).

I have XP with latest updates and have cleaned up with spybot.

I thought for a while it was that ATT hadn't updated their certificate but it's been going on too long for that.

I can live with it - it's just a minor irritant.

    From IE, Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
scroll down to security settings and see if the boxes are ticked to check for certificates.

This message applies to the server certificate apparently (not a certificate associated with a message).

It asks if I want to use the server anyway and when I say yes then the mail downloads OK. I guess I should try ATT help for an answer.

I also think its one of the advanced or security settings, though I know next to nothing about OE ,since i havent had the optertunity to use it much.

Perhaps go there with IE and add that site to trusted
and while there untick the box to require server varifacation
    I think it would be > http://webmail.att.net/

are you using any mail filtering programs ?

You might want to get a spyware checkup

    Got it fixed !

Finally got around to checking with the AT&T help desk and after some stumbling around it was simply changing my server from ipostoffice.att.net to ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net:D
