I was looking at task manager and I noticed that the pagefile was at 3GB. I thought this was very large so i went to decrease it and it was only set to 1GB. I configured the os to have no pagefilebut still it says the pagefile is at 1.5GB.
I am being fussy because I dont have my new hard drive yet and vista is on a 6GB partition! my other drive is only 20GB too with all my other stuff on...

I should be able to completely disable it because I hae enough ram now.

Why is there a "hidden" pagefile?

Edit: Could it be that Windows is using my Linux Swap partition??

I would consider 6GB to be too small to run Vista.

I expect you know it is not recommended to remove the Paging File. It may have "worked" for XP, but Vista is different. You could try setting it to recommended minimum, but don't wonder why Vista might stop working.

Recommended minimum for Home Basic is 15GB. It makes me wonder how you even got it installed.

Why don't you run a smaller OS until your new hard drive arrives? I think squeezing it into a space that is far too small is a recipe for doom.

    Good luck.
