If you go with one of the ones you mentioned, turn the windows one off. I understand the built in is a one way protection and the other two are both way.

I use the Sygate Personal Firewall (free) and it is very easy. I have used Kerio (free) and it was easy. I have used zone alarm (free) and it was easy.

I think the general consensus is to not run two firewalls at the same time. Same thing with Anti Virus programs.

    Hello bob,

If you do try Sygate v5.6, make sure that you turn off WF before installing it. I've run into a problem with this version in that it might hang if WF is still running. The latest versions of firewalls should shut WF off - seems to be a problem in this version. Otherwise it's a great free firewall, lot more sophisticated than free ZA.

    Regards - Charles

bobm735--I cetainly do not argue about any of the advice so far.
One other thing (and I have been accused of being overly protective for suggesting it) is that, if you uninstall your present firewall before installing another, I would disconnect from the internet while going through the procedure.
