This AM I still can not connect to the secnews.netscape.com server using port 563 and SSL. Any ideas, it was working fine before yesterday. Using Mozilla 1.7.3 and Win98SE

I replied to you this AM, but my reply did not make it.
I had never subscribed to the specific board, but I had to other groups at secnews. Basically, I was telling you that I did subscribe, and had no problem.
What is not clear to me if you had a problem with the entire secnews, or just this particular group. If it is about the group alone, you could try to add another group, such as netscape7, or mozilla.win32. I never had a problem like yours.

Now, I am getting confused. Are you saying that you have the same problem with NS4.79 and OE with one ISP only?

    FWIW -

I'm using Moz 1..7.3, WinXp and have no trouble at all with the URL. It came up asking to subscribe, did so and surfed thru some of the threads.

Sounds like it may be a browser setup problem of some kind.

I have Mozilla 1.7.3 [my default], Netscape 4.79 and IE 6 loaded on my laptop. My ISP is BBC.NET and I have a program that is a prepaid internet dialer that I use when I travel, it is called MaGlobe. If I use the MaGlobe everything works fine and I can access the secnews.netscape.com newsgroup but if I try with my regular ISP I can access all my email[on ports 110] and my other newsgroups[they are on port 119] but can not access the secnews one on port 563 and is SSL. I have a Gmail account that is SSL and on port 995 and it works OK also. Am I makeing sense? This all started the day before yesterday. If it were a browser problem it would not do the same with all three browsers I would no think.
